Gameweek 20 in the Premier League concludes at Molineux on Monday night as Wolves take on a high-flying Nottingham Forest side.

Nuno Espirito Santo returns to his old stomping ground for the first time since taking the Forest job in December 2023, with the former Wolves boss working wonders at the City Ground.

Forest will end the gameweek third in the Premier League table no matter what happens in the West Midlands after Chelsea dropped points at Crystal Palace. The Tricky Trees concluded 2024 with a 2-0 victory at Everton – their fifth win on the bounce.

Wolves are also enjoying a good run of form, with their recent upsurge inspired by the appointment of Vitor Pereira after Gary O’Neil’s dismissal. The Portuguese coach guided Wolves to victories over Leicester and Manchester United before they earned a point at Tottenham last weekend by virtue of an excellent Jorgen Strand Larsen finish late on.

Here is 90min’s guide to the latest iteration of Monday Night Football from Molineux.

Matheus Cunha

Wolves were dealt a big blow at the start of 2025 with the FA confirming that Matheus Cunha will serve a two-match suspension after he was charged for his post-match antics against Ipswich in December.

Goncalo Guedes is poised to come in for the sought-after Brazilian, but the Portuguese forward has big boots to fill.

Cunha is one of several Wolves absentees for Monday’s game. The hosts are set to be without Sasa Kalajdzic, Enso Gonzalez, Yerson Mosquera, Boubacar Traore, Pablo Sarabia and Toti Gomes due to injury.

Marino Lemina and Andre are both doubts.

Wolves predicted lineup vs Forest (3-4-3): Sa; Doherty, Bueno, Dawson; Semedo, Doyle, Gomes, Ait-Nouri; Hwang, Guedes; Larsen.

Ryan Yates

Forest have been aided by a lack of injuries this term, although they were without Callum Hudson-Odoi and Murillo for their victory at Goodison Park to round off 2024.

Both players are expected to be fit in time for Monday’s game, and they’ll also have Ryan Yates available after the midfielder served his one-match suspension.

Danilo is a long-term absentee, while Ibrahim Sangare is still nursing a hamstring injury.

Forest predicted lineup vs Wolves (4-2-3-1): Sels; Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Williams; Yates, Anderson; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood.

Wolves will be hindered by Cunha’s absence, but they fought back to earn a point at Spurs last Sunday after the Brazilian was taken off at halftime. The hosts should be able to function without their maverick in attack.

Pereira has inspired this Wolves team since his arrival, but it remains to be seen whether their recent upsurge will be sustained.

Forest have proven they can win games in a myriad of ways. While they excel in transition, Nuno’s side have not been utterly reliant on fast breakaways going forward. Recent wins at Brentford and Everton prove that.

However, Wolves’ newfound confidence renders Monday’s fixture tricky, and – for the fifth game in a row between these two – the spoils may well be shared.

Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Nottingham Forest
