Liverpool manager Arne Slot will not be in the technical area when his side visit Southampton in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday (8pm GMT).
The Reds can move a step closer to a first trophy under the Dutchman when they take on the bottom side in the Premier League.
Slot has guided his new club to the top-flight summit after his first 15 league matches, with a two-point cushion and game in hand on second-placed Chelsea.
Here’s why the 46-year-old will serve a punishment at St Mary’s Stadium and what the former Feyenoord boss had to say about the situation.

When is Arne Slot suspended?
The Southampton game will be the only match Slot sits out as part of a one-game ban following Liverpool’s 2-2 home draw with Fulham.
He will be hoping to return for the semi-finals, should the defending Carabao Cup champions see off opponents who lost 5-0 at home to Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.
That means Slot will be on the sideline again when Liverpool head to Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday (4.30pm).
The Carabao Cup tie will go straight to penalties if it finishes as a draw, with extra time only in use in the semi-finals and final.
Liverpool beat two Premier League teams to reach the quarter-finals, thrashing visitors West Ham 5-1 and winning 3-2 at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Why is Arne Slot suspended?
“There were a few moments when I could have been given a yellow card,” said Slot after he was booked for his reaction to Curtis Jones being cautioned for a 57th-minute challenge on Alex Iwobi at Anfield.
Liverpool lost left-back Andy Roberton to a straight red card after 17 minutes and twice came from behind to rescue a point.
“It’s an emotional game and we were a man down,” he added. “It’s frustrating. It’s good to see our performance after so many setbacks.”
Slot incurred a suspension for three bookings because he also saw yellow during his side’s 2-1 home win over Chelsea on October 20 and 2-2 draw at Arsenal on October 27.
