‘We love you Randy’ – Justin Jefferson pays tribute to NFL legend battling cancer with heartwarming gesture - sports news foot

From one legendary Minnesota Vikings wide receiver to another.

Justin Jefferson found the end zone on Monday Night Football and paid homage to an all-time great.

He scored, made a heart symbol with his hands and yelled into the camera, “We love you, Randy! This one’s for you!”

Jefferson was shouting out to Hall of Famer, and Vikings great, Randy Moss.

The legendary wide receiver announced earlier in the week that he was battling cancer.

“Y’all know I’ve told y’all over the last couple of weeks about me battling something internally,” Moss said in an Instagram Live video.

“Your boy is a cancer survivor.”

He revealed that he had to have surgery to remove tumors near his liver and pancreas.

Moss went on to talk about his ongoing chemotherapy and radiation he will be receiving, but sounded optimistic.

He also acknowledged he will “have a tough road” but reiterated how grateful he was that the cancer was caught early.

Moss posted on X with three simple words, “LET’S MOSS CANCER.”

Jefferson wasn’t the only one to honor the Minnesota great on the primetime stage.

Moss’ former teammates, Cris Carter and Jake Reed, who formed one of the best wide receiver trios in NFL history, nicknamed “Three Deep,” walked out to the coin toss each holding one side of an #84 Moss jersey.

The whole stadium erupted in their support for the franchise legend.

Since Moss revealed his diagnosis, the football community as a whole has rallied around the former wide receiver in their support.

Moss played for the Vikings for the first seven years of his career, breaking records and taking the throne as the most dominant wide receiver in the league.

He retired near the top of every major receiving record, while trailing only Jerry Rice in most touchdown receptions.

He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.

He has since been an analyst for ESPN.

Moss initially addressed on the air that he had experienced a health scare, before taking time off and revealing exactly what he was going through.

Jefferson’s tribute (along with Carter and Reed’s) to Moss was a nice gesture and reminder that life is so much bigger than just football.
