Mourinho grabs nose of Galatasaray coach after Turkish Super Cup loss
Fenerbahce head coach Jose Mourinho has once again found himself at the centre of a confrontation – this time with Galatasaray’s Okan Buruk during Wednesday’s Turkish Cup clash.
Mourinho was caught grabbing Buruk’s nose in the aftermath of Fenerbahce’s loss to their rivals.
The match saw Victor Osimhen score a brace for the visiting side, before tensions escalated in the latter stages of the game, prompting law enforcement to intervene on the field to de-escalate the situation.
A large brawl erupted involving players from both sides, leading to the referee issuing three red cards. Fenerbahce’s Mert Hakan Yandas and Galatasaray duo Baris Alper Yilmaz and Kerem Demirbay were all sent off.
Amidst the turmoil, Mourinho was caught on camera gripping Buruk’s nose, causing the Galatasaray coach to dramatically fall to the ground, clutching his face.
Following the match, Galatasaray’s official X account shared an image of Buruk smiling while looking in Mourinho’s direction.

“YOU SHOULD NOT ATTACK, YOU SHOULD DIGEST!” read the caption, accompanied by a shushing emoji.
In another social media post, the club posted an animated clip featuring a cartoon version of Mourinho, captioning it with, “Galatasaray drives you crazy.”
This incident adds to an already eventful season for Mourinho, who has been no stranger to controversy. The Portuguese manager has frequently criticised refereeing in Turkey and previously received a four-game suspension in February after making remarks about match officials following an earlier encounter with Galatasaray.
Additionally, Mourinho was accused of racism by Galatasaray after that same match. The club condemned his comments as “unequivocally inhumane rhetoric” when he described the opposition bench as “jumping around like monkeys.”
Mourinho took legal action against the club over the allegations.
And he could now be set for a further ban after his actions on the pitch at full-time.
