An “incredible” Rangers talent hinted that he may never play at Ibrox again right after enjoying a landmark night for his country.

Rangers stars on international duty as Curtis makes debut

One of Rangers’ most highly-regarded young players, 18-year-old winger Findlay Curtis, made his debut for Scotland’s Under-19s last week in a 1-1 friendly draw with Sweden and made an instant impression, providing the assist for Sam Chambers’ goal.

Reflecting on his call-up – which was his first-ever for the national team in any age group – Curtis described it to Rangers’ official website as a “proud moment for me, my family and my friends”.

“I’ve never been called up to a Scotland squad before; this is the first one,” Curtis, who made his first-team debut for Rangers back in January shortly before signing a contract extension, added. “It was quite hard watching other boys get called up, but I just kept my head down, kept on working hard, and my reward has come.”

Matondo stars for Wales, hints at Rangers exit

Another Rangers forward who has hit an international milestone in recent days is Welsh forward Rabbi Matondo. The 24-year-old, who is currently on loan with 2. Bundesliga side Hannover 96, came off the bench to score his first-ever Wales goal in a 3-1 win over Kazakhstan in the Nations League on Saturday.

He is now a doubt for the Dundee United game.

Speaking after the game, Matondo, making just his second Wales appearance since 2023, described the moment as a dream come true.

“I was buzzing,” said the Liverpool-born forward, according to BBC Sport. “I’m grateful for getting picked and being in the squad, so it was nice to get on the pitch and score my first goal for my country. It’s something I’ve always dreamed of when I was younger.”

Matondo, once described as “incredible” by former manager Domenico Tedesco, went on to drop a hint about his domestic future, suggesting that he could leave Ibrox for good in the summer.

The Wales international featured only eight times in all competitions for the Gers in the opening half of the campaign before joining Hannover 96 on loan for the remainder of the season in January. The German club reportedly have the option to purchase him permanently at the end of the season for just £1 million.

Asked if the move had been worthwhile, Matondo seemed to imply Hannover have long-term plans for him: “100%. It wasn’t an easy decision at first but when Hannover showed me what they were planning in the future I thought, ‘Why not? Go there and try to play my football.’

“It’s been a long, hard season with injury at the start so coming back and trying to get minutes was very important. I didn’t know whether I would get that at Rangers at that moment.”
