‘I understand how that business side goes’ – Dallas Cowboys star speaks on trade speculation amidst uncertain future - sports news foot

Micah Parsons future with the Dallas Cowboys remains unclear.

Still looking for a contract extension, Parsons was asked about the possibility of a trade this offseason if the two sides can’t come to an agreement.

“I understand how that business side goes,” Parsons said.

“There are no hard feelings in this business, whether I’m here or anywhere else.

“Obviously, I’ve stated that I want to be here. But at the end of the day, I understand the business side.

“I put in a lot of work, I’ve played hard too, so obviously if sides can’t agree to those types of things, it happens like that.

“But I’m just happy to be here. I’m just gonna keep playing hard while I’m here. If I’m here for the next five, six years, I’m going to keep playing hard then too.

“Ain’t nothing really gonna make a difference. Micah going to play hard.”

Parsons was asked about his future, because earlier in the week, Cowboys executive vice president, Stephen Jones, son of Jerry Jones, said that everything (and everyone) is going to be on the table when it comes to rebuilding the roster this offseason, except for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.

“Obviously we’re totally all in on Dak [Prescott] and CeeDee [Lamb], but after that, then you still shape things, including Micah,” Jones said.

“But Micah’s a great player. You don’t do well in this league letting guys like Micah, usually, leave the house.”

Jones had to clarify that he didn’t intend for his comments to spark ideas about trading their star defensive player.

Parsons has 8.5 sacks in 10 games this season.

The star pass rusher missed four games with a high-ankle sprain.

Since being drafted with the 12th overall pick out of Penn State in the 2021 draft, Parson has made three Pro Bowls and two All-Pros.

He is everything and more the Cowboys were hoping for.

Even in what looks to be a lost year, Parsons has dominated when he’s been on the field.

Unfortunately for Dallas, this season didn’t go as planned.

The Cowboys sit at a disappointing 6-8.

While not eliminated entirely from the postseason, the odds are very slim.

A team that had Super Bowl aspirations coming into the year, is now left with more questions than answers as they look to retool their roster heading into 2025.

A roster that Cowboys fans better hope includes Parsons.
