Match preview for Fulham v Crystal Palace

Fulham and Crystal Palace are set to face off in an FA Cup quarter-final showdown on Saturday afternoon.

Both sides are vying for a place in the semi-finals, with Fulham’s penalty shootout triumph over Manchester United and Palace’s convincing win against Millwall propelling them to this stage of the competition.

Marco Silva’s men booked their place in the last eight with a penalty shootout victory against Manchester United. After a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, Fulham held their nerve as Bernd Leno denied both Victor Lindelof and Joshua Zirkzee from the spot, while Fulham converted all four of their penalties to knock out the reigning champions.

Fulham will take confidence from their recent 2-0 win over Tottenham before the international break, with goals from Rodrigo Muniz and former Spurs man Ryan Sessegnon helping them to a sixth win in eight games.

Palace, meanwhile, built momentum heading into the international break with three successive home wins, including their FA Cup victory over Millwall.

That game was overshadowed by a shocking injury to Jean-Philippe Mateta, which Palace chairman Steve Parish described as the “most reckless” challenge he had seen in his lifetime.

Despite the setback, Oliver Glasner’s side remained composed and cruised to a 3-1 victory.

Their last game before the international window saw them secure a 1-0 win over Ipswich, with Ismaila Sarr producing a moment of brilliance to seal the victory.

Coincidentally, Palace’s recent winning streak began with a 2-0 triumph over Fulham at Craven Cottage in late February.

Team news for Fulham v Crystal Palace

Fulham will benefit from the return of Sasa Lukic after his two-game suspension for accumulating 10 yellow cards.

His inclusion could see Emile Smith Rowe drop to the bench, while Andreas Pereira – who has created more chances than any other player in this season’s FA Cup – may be pushed into a more advanced role.

However, Silva remains without Kenny Tete (knee), Harry Wilson (foot), and Reiss Nelson (thigh), with Nelson ruled out for the remainder of the season.

For Palace, Mateta has been cleared to play following his ear injury. The Eagles remain without Joel Ward (calf), Cheick Doucoure (knee), and Chadi Riad (knee), but Will Hughes is available despite serving a Premier League suspension.
