Deal close with Newcastle likely to sign "exciting" 18 y/o ahead of Arsenal
Newcastle United are believed to be closing in on the signing of an “exciting” young attacker ahead of Arsenal, according to a recent transfer update.
Newcastle prepare for Liverpool as they eye new centre-backs
The Magpies face arguably their biggest test of the season so far on Wednesday night, making the trip to Premier League leaders Liverpool, in an important game for both sides.
Eddie Howe’s side have shown that they are a match for anyone on their day in recent years, and this will be a great gauge of where they are at as they prepare to take on the Reds in the EFL Cup final at Wembley next month.
When the summer transfer arrives, it is important that Newcastle bring at least one new centre-back, with former Napoli ace Kalidou Koulibaly linked with a move to St James’ Park. The 33-year-old is currently at Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, but he may like the idea of a return to European football.
Bournemouth teenager Dean Huijsen is another central defender who has been mentioned as an option for Newcastle, following a hugely impressive season for the Cherries. At just 19, he already looks a top-level player, so he could be a great long-term investment if Paul Mitchell can entice him to the club.
Newcastle closing in on “exciting” ace
According to a new claim from Spain [via Sport Witness], Malaga winger Antonio Cordero is “getting closer and closer” to completing a move to Newcastle this summer, and “negotiations are about to be closed”.
The 18 year-old’s deal expires at the end of this season, and while his current club want to tie him down to an extension, it looks as though St James’ is going to be his next destination, as they pip Arsenal and Manchester City to his signature in the process.
This is great news, not least the fact that Cordero looks set to choose Newcastle over two of the best teams in the country, making it a statement signing. Granted, the winger is still a young player who is maturing as a footballer, so he shouldn’t be seen as a key starter, but he can add much-needed depth out on the right wing, being lauded by analyst Ben Mattinson.
“Antonio Cordero is another exciting winger in Segunda Division. Antonito is direct and comfortable either wing. Quality crossing on either foot. At RW, he’s good at bombing down the line, keeping the ball away from the defender and whipping/floating in crosses on his right foot.”

Newcastle must rue selling world-class star who will be better than Gordon
Newcastle were forced to sell off two of their most prized assets in June to avoid a PSR breach, and one in particular is starring on the South Coast.
Hopefully, Cordero will grow into a superstar for the Magpies over time, and 13 goal contributions (five goals and eight assists) in 47 appearances for Malaga shows he has some end product already to make his spark out wide.
