Americas players were try-scorers over the weekend in Europe. Round two of the Challenge Cup saw players from Argentina and Canada scoring tries. Tries from Americas players took place from players representing teams who play in the United Rugby Championship (URC) and France’s Top 14.
Argentine loose head prop Rodrigo Martínez was a first-half try scorer for the Dragons. The Welsh region were 22-14 away winners over the Newcastle Falcons in northern England.
Montpellier ran riot at home against the Ospreys. The French Top 14 side were 59-15 winners over the Ospreys from the URC. Uncapped Canadian Tyler Duguid was a first-half try scorer for Montpellier.
A French vs Italian club clash saw Lyon coming out 21-19 away winners over Zebre Parma. Puma Gonzalo García had a try assist for uncapped Argentine Gerónimo Prisciantelli. The likely 2025 rookie Puma scored the try and kicked two conversions from fly half.
Argentine Francisco Gorrissen captained Vannes to a first-ever win in the Challenge Cup. Vannes downed Gloucester 43-19. For a period of time, the match saw Pumas Mayco Vivas and Santiago Medrano playing in the front-row in opposing sides. Chilean Iñaki Ayarza also featured for Vannes.
Connacht were convincing 31-18 away winners over Perpignan. The Irish province was up against a heavily rotated Perpignan side. Santiago Cordero played fullback for Connacht and had a try assist.
