A “world-class” Liverpool hero’s future now looks set to be sealed, with a fresh report claiming that his move away from Anfield is “99% done.”

Liverpool battling to keep star trio

The Reds are targeting new signings ahead of the summer transfer window, but sorting the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are as important as anything.

All three Liverpool superstars are out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season, and the fact that none have yet signed contract extensions is causing plenty of concern among the fanbase.

Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold

Alexander-Arnold has been constantly linked with a move to Real Madrid, with the Champions League clearly considering him a priority target, and the natural heir to Dani Carvajal at right-back.

Meanwhile, Van Dijk has spoken of his happiness at Liverpool, despite the speculation surrounding his future, and Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as contenders to sign him this week. As for Salah, he has been very vocal about a lack of progress being made over a new deal at Liverpool, and losing him on a free transfer would be a monumental blow.

Alexander-Arnold agrees Liverpool exit, report claims

According to AS [via Sport Witness], an agreement over Alexander-Arnold moving from Liverpool to Real Madrid this summer has been reached and is now “complete”, with the player aware of how much he would earn at the Bernabeu.

A deal to join the reigning Champions League winners is “99% done”, suggesting that the 26-year-old will depart his boyhood club when the current campaign reaches its conclusion, assuming he signs on the dotted line.

Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold applauds fans after the match

It is hard to downplay how big a loss Alexander-Arnold would be if he does leave Liverpool, with the Reds’ vice-captain one of the most influential and talented right-backs of his generation.

No other player in his position possesses such an elite level of natural ability, with Jurgen Klopp waxing lyrical about him during their time working together:

“He has been a fantastic player from the first day. An outstanding talent and he has turned into a world-class football player. “It is rare as a manager that you are part of a journey for such a long time. Trent has never had a different manager so it will be good for him to get new influences in the future. But he can be happy with the steps he has made.”

To lose such a magnificent footballer will be a tough one to take for Liverpool supporters, especially as he is a local lad, and sadly, it may tarnish his legacy at Anfield.

The Reds know all about his potential.

Like Steve McManaman, who joined Madrid on a free transfer back in 1999, there could be a feeling that the £180,000-a-week Alexander-Arnold has deserted the club he loves at the peak of his powers, but at the same time, the lure of Madrid is great for any player, so it is easy to see why his head has been turned.
