Manchester United are now expected to complete a summer move for an “exciting” forward, who has previously expressed his desire to play for Ruben Amorim, according to a report.

Man Utd eyeing new forwards

With Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggling to score on a regular basis, Man United have set their sights on a new striker ahead of the summer transfer window, and they have now made a proposal to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

The Red Devils are said to have offered Napoli a Hojlund plus cash deal, which the Italian club would be open to, given that manager Antonio Conte rates the 22-year-old very highly.

Not only is a new striker being targeted, but Amorim is also keen to strengthen his wide options, and United have recently been linked with an audacious move for Barcelona’s Raphinha, who is believed to be a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or.

A “sensational” Man United player could be heading for the exit door…

However, it may be difficult to compete for the Brazilian, given that he may not want to move to a club unlikely to be in the Champions League next season, meaning Man United may have to take a chance on an up-and-coming talent.

According to a report from A Bola (via Sport Witness), United are now expected to sign Sporting CP’s Geovany Quenda in the summer, having ‘reserved’ the 17-year-old, and a deal could amount to €60m (£50m).

It is ‘inevitable’ Quenda leaves the Portuguese club this summer, and previous reports have revealed he would be keen on a move to Old Trafford, as the youngster has made it clear he wants to reunite with his former manager.

“Exciting” Quenda could make instant impact at Old Trafford

Although the winger is still very young, there are plenty of signs he could be capable of making an instant impact at Old Trafford, having already emerged as a first-team regular for Sporting.

The Portuguese forward has two goals and eight assists to his name in all competitions this season, most recently picking up an assist in his side’s 3-1 victory against Casa Pia to help keep them on track in their Liga Portugal title charge.

The teenager also ranks extremely highly on some key attacking metrics over the past year, when compared to his positional peers, most notably impressing with his dribbling ability.

Having been lauded as “one of the most exciting talents in Portugal” by football talent scout Jacek Kulig, there are clear signs Quenda could be a fantastic acquisition for United.

However, it would of course still be a gamble to shell out £50m, given that the Sporting star is unproven in one of Europe’s major leagues, so it could be wise to try and negotiate a lower fee.
